  • Sylvia van Geelen

    Sylvia van Geelen is a bit of a mystery. She has been a high school teacher since she left school herself. She had the reputation of a strict but fair teacher. Her teaching methods were so revolutionary at the time, she was asked to speak at an international teachers’ convention in Liege, Belgium.

    Sylvia de Groen-van Geelen is 61 year and five months old at the start of the story. They live in a quiet converted farm in the province Drenthe, the Netherlands.

    She is a very strong and social woman. She would have been perfect, but in books nobody is perfect, right? Koen describes his marriage as ESAC, an Extremely Sexually Active Couple. And certainly is applicable to Sylvia.

  • Koen de Groen

    Koen de Groen is our protagonist and the narrator of book 1 of the Dutch Master series. Yes, he is Dutch, alright. Blunt and frugal. He is an engineer. Or rather he was an engineer. A good one. But he has retired recently. He owned his own company, and it has been taken over by a consortium of young engineers, his son Peter being one of them.

    Koen is at the start of the story, the first chapter of Good Girl 63 years and one month old.

    He is proud of this physique, he still runs a lot outside, and works out to keep fit.

    Koen is married to Sylvia van Geelen, officially Sylvia De Groen-van Geelen. She is his soulmate, his twin flame and he is still very much in love with his wife. According to Sylvia he worships the ground she walks on. They have had their share of troubles but that is all in the past now. Koen thinks…
